Freedom City's own Dr. Malcolm Oakum, also known by his super-hero identity of Pitch Black, stopped a bank robbery with the assistance of world-renowned adventurer Sigfried Nyffenegger and two other heroes.
The meta-human, sibling duo Rant and Rave and a gang of thugs attempted to rob the Eastern Seaboard bank, but their plans were interrupted by four heroes who were at the bank on independent business.
According to Sergeant Bert Barton of the Freedom City Police Department, the villains initially fled at the unexpected resistance, only to return later in an attempt to complete the robbery. In the intervening period, there was a brief scuffle among the four heroes.
“To the strange naked man with the sword, you chose the right side in the battle, and for that I salute you,” said Nyffenegger of the skirmish. "Once again, the evildoers were vanquished by the forces of good and right--we always win in the end!"
The third member of the extemporaneous agglomeration matched the descriptions of a beetle-themed superhero known to be active in the greater Freedom City area, and identified himself as Thongolifa. “Squeezed as they are by the nefarious machinations of capitalists and organized crime, this victory represents some small relief for the working class of this repressed nation.”
The forth hero, identified by witnesses as a “big, naked, Nordic man” was nowhere to be found after the halted heist.
A security guard and one bank patron were treated for minor injuries after the incident, as were all of the suspects retained by police. Rant and Rave are temporarily being held at the FCPD until a Victory Squad escort to the Superhuman prison Golgotha can be arranged.
